Meanwhile, the builders have been stripping and preparing the first floor rooms. Upon stripping the wallpaper, we found that our &quot;Banksy&quot; has a precursor:</p> <p><img height="236" width="480" class="image-style-large media-element file-full image-style-large" typeof="foaf:Image" src="http://withington.coopliving.net/sites/default/files/styles/large/public/austin_george_hughes.jpg?itok=eq5VOi_d" alt="" title="" /></p> <p>However, they also discovered this crack:</p> <p><img height="480" width="270" class="image-style-large media-element file-full image-style-large" typeof="foaf:Image" src="http://withington.coopliving.net/sites/default/files/styles/large/public/bedroom_crack.jpg?itok=0VcJEz6I" alt="" title="" /></p> <p>Fortunately, this is &quot;bread and butter&quot; to the builders, who seemed confident that they could fix it up by inserting some steel straps and then bonding it. There was absolutely no sign of this before we stripped the room - it&#39;s amazing what woodchip wallpaper and a dozen coats of landlords&#39; Dulux can hide!</p> </div></div></div><section class="field field-name-field-tags field-type-taxonomy-term-reference field-label-inline clearfix view-mode-rss"><h2 class="field-label">Tags:&nbsp;</h2><ul class="field-items"><li class="field-item even"><a href="/tags/cracks" typeof="skos:Concept" property="rdfs:label skos:prefLabel" datatype="">cracks</a></li><li class="field-item odd"><a href="/tags/plastering" typeof="skos:Concept" property="rdfs:label skos:prefLabel" datatype="">plastering</a></li></ul></section><ul class="links inline"><li class="service-links-facebook first"><a href="http://www.facebook.com/sharer.php?u=http%3A//withington.coopliving.net/blog/more-discoveries&amp;t=More%20discoveries" title="Share on Facebook." class="service-links-facebook" rel="nofollow"><img typeof="foaf:Image" class="image-style-none" src="http://withington.coopliving.net/profiles/openoutreach/modules/contrib/service_links/images/facebook.png" alt="Facebook" /></a></li><li class="service-links-twitter last"><a href="http://twitter.com/share?url=http%3A//withington.coopliving.net/blog/more-discoveries&amp;text=More%20discoveries" title="Share this on Twitter" class="service-links-twitter" rel="nofollow"><img typeof="foaf:Image" class="image-style-none" src="http://withington.coopliving.net/profiles/openoutreach/modules/contrib/service_links/images/twitter.png" alt="Twitter" /></a></li></ul> Tue, 10 Sep 2013 17:09:02 +0000 Robert 44 at http://withington.coopliving.net http://withington.coopliving.net/blog/more-discoveries#comments Windows and cracks http://withington.coopliving.net/blog/windows-and-cracks <div class="field field-name-body field-type-text-with-summary field-label-hidden view-mode-rss"><div class="field-items"><div class="field-item even" property="content:encoded"> <p>Got an email from the window company saying tomorrow&#39;s meeting is to be postponed by a week, to next Tuesday. Apparently the guy fell off a ladder!</p> <p>It&#39;s been drizzling for the past few days so the builders have been working inside instead. Having knocked the plaster off&nbsp; in some areas, we&#39;ve discovered two cracks in the walls:</p> <p><img height="152" width="480" class="image-style-large media-element file-full image-style-large" typeof="foaf:Image" src="http://withington.coopliving.net/sites/default/files/styles/large/public/cracks.jpg?itok=tB6sICDo" alt="" title="" /></p> <p>The one on the right could be a case of lintel failure. But that wouldn&#39;t explain why it goes all the way up to the ceiling... or the one on the left, which is on the side wall of the same room.</p> </div></div></div><section class="field field-name-field-tags field-type-taxonomy-term-reference field-label-inline clearfix view-mode-rss"><h2 class="field-label">Tags:&nbsp;</h2><ul class="field-items"><li class="field-item even"><a href="/tags/windows" typeof="skos:Concept" property="rdfs:label skos:prefLabel" datatype="">windows</a></li><li class="field-item odd"><a href="/tags/cracks" typeof="skos:Concept" property="rdfs:label skos:prefLabel" datatype="">cracks</a></li></ul></section><ul class="links inline"><li class="service-links-facebook first"><a href="http://www.facebook.com/sharer.php?u=http%3A//withington.coopliving.net/blog/windows-and-cracks&amp;t=Windows%20and%20cracks" title="Share on Facebook." class="service-links-facebook" rel="nofollow"><img typeof="foaf:Image" class="image-style-none" src="http://withington.coopliving.net/profiles/openoutreach/modules/contrib/service_links/images/facebook.png" alt="Facebook" /></a></li><li class="service-links-twitter last"><a href="http://twitter.com/share?url=http%3A//withington.coopliving.net/blog/windows-and-cracks&amp;text=Windows%20and%20cracks" title="Share this on Twitter" class="service-links-twitter" rel="nofollow"><img typeof="foaf:Image" class="image-style-none" src="http://withington.coopliving.net/profiles/openoutreach/modules/contrib/service_links/images/twitter.png" alt="Twitter" /></a></li></ul> Mon, 01 Jul 2013 16:29:58 +0000 Robert 16 at http://withington.coopliving.net http://withington.coopliving.net/blog/windows-and-cracks#comments
